Care packages for girls with trichotillomania

My name is Gessie and I have had trichotillomania (hair pulling disorder) since age 11. While I once suffered with feeling deeply ashamed and alone, I have since found community, as well as self love and acceptance. I have become a proud advocate dedicated to spreading awareness of this disorder that is still not widely known or understood. I have written both a memoir and a children's book about my journey of living with trich.

In 2019, I started my "Trichster Sisters" program. Through this program I send care packages to young girls with trichotillomania. Thanks to donors, I raised over a thousand dollars and over the course of 2019, I sent out 40 Trichster Sister care packages to girls ages 2 to 14 from all across the United States. I even got to meet a few of the girls in person!

Trichster Sisters has been on pause for a few years, but I've recently been inspired to revive it.

My goal is to foster confidence and self-love in girls and provide them support and friendship from a "big sister" who has been on the same journey and understands what they're going through. I hope to be the kind of person I needed when I was younger. I want kids to grow up knowing that they can still lead fulfilling lives, even with trichotillomania - I am living proof of that!​

Your donations will go towards the costs of supplies for the care packages, as well as shipping expenses. Some of the items I include in these packages are fidget toys, handmade fidget hair clips and bracelets, a small stuffed animal, and a copy of my children's book.
