Trina Baze was a horsewoman in her own right. Trina was loved by many animals and people throughout her life. Her daughter Taylor and her founded Annies Horse Acres Rescue and have rescued horses on and off the track whenever they got the opportunity to save a horse. They have contributed thousands of dollars into the horse community saving all our unfortunate horses.
Trina was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in 2020 and has been battling ever sense on different treatments. She had her good days and her bad days but, eventually this led to Trina suffering from early onset dementia and required 24-hour care.
Trina lived with her daughter, son-in-law, and five grandchildren for the past year on their ranch. Trina’s children Tracy, Taylor and their husbands courageously fought the healthcare system trying to get her the best care in her last months. However, doctor after doctor and battle after battle only lead to Trina forming an addiction to opioids. Doctors seemed to turn a blind eye to Trina and her family’s efforts to get her the care she not only needed, but the care she deserved.
Trina’s family has faced unimaginable financial hardship, and they need your help. Even if you are only able to donate $1, every dollar helps. There are unpaid medical bills and funeral costs that need to be met. Both Taylor and Kasey Hemesath (youngest daughter and son-in-law) exhausted every part of their lives to help Trina be comfortable, happy, and cared for. The struggle was one not many must face alone, with an unsupportive healthcare system.
Trina Baze lost her life on February 6 from a liver failure caused by an opioid overdose. The family was so careful about keeping medications locked up, but when you have responsibilities outside of the home like work and transporting kids to and from school (including farm chores), you have no control over what happens in your home. The pain Trina was in was excruciating and she could no longer bear it. This is a trauma no family should face, but a story too often told.
These are wonderful people who give back to the community and are committed to their friends and family. They work harder than so many to make ends meet, but the dark truth of this hardship is too much to bear alone.
Trina loved her family, friends, and animals deeply. All she wanted was for the pain to stop, but her cries fell on the deaf ears of medical professionals who should have been her second biggest support.
