Help Trinity Recover from Brutal Attack

On Friday, September 9, 2022 Trinity was brutally attacked by a family member's 100lb dog. Just a week shy of her 20th birthday, Trinity sustained severe injuries to her face and right arm. She was taken by ambulance to Holy Spirit Hospital and then transferred to Penn State Hershey Medical Center due to the severity of her injuries. Over the next several days she underwent numerous painful procedures and 1 surgery to save her arm. She was brave and positive throughout the two hour process to close the over 20 wounds covering her arm from her shoulder to her wrist. She was bitten with enough force to fracture the bone of her upper arm and remove a chunk of tissue close to the elbow. She will need intensive physical therapy and possible additional surgeries to regain full use of her arm. Due to the emergent nature of her injuries severe scarring of her arm could not be avoided.
Trinity lost her nose in the attack and on September 15, she had forehead flap surgery preformed to begin reconstruction of her face. This surgery consisted of cutting skin and tissue from her forehead folding it down and attaching the living tissue along with cartilage from her ears and a donor to where the tip of her nose used to be. Over the next three weeks this "flap" will graft to her face and create a mass of cartilage and tissue to be eventually sculpted in to a replica of her original nose. The second of the expected 6 surgeries she will undergo for her facial reconstruction is scheduled for October 11, 2022.
Trinity graduated from Dauphin County Vo Tech's Health Careers program in 2021. Upon graduation, Trinity began working as a CNA with Select Medical at Penn State Rehabilitation Hospital in Hershey, Pa. In the year that she has been there, Trinity has purchased a new car, moved into her first apartment with her boyfriend Jayy, and registered for full time classes at Hacc to start pursuing her RN degree.
Now it seems she may lose everything she worked so very hard to achieve. She only qualifies for 12 weeks of FMLA through her job, none of which is paid. She is currently meeting her financial responsibilities using her savings which she just starting building again since getting her apartment in July. She has to have someone with her throughout the day as she can not do many of her daily activities without the use of her right arm. She requires dressing changes and wound cleanings twice daily, and must face the public, family, and friends with a terrible facial disfigurement. Extremely painful headaches and intense anxiety can unexpectedly overtake her without warning. She has nightmares and insomnia since the attack.
She worries that she will not regain full use of her right arm, making it nearly impossible for her to fulfill her dream of becoming a RN. It is also not known when her medical insurance will reach a point that they do not pay for her reconstruction. It is possible that in order to complete all the surgeries needed to structure her nose and minimize scarring she may need to pay out of pocket. Being permanently disfigured due to being unable to pay is a very big worry for her.
Throughout the process, Trinity has remained brave and grateful. She has rarely complained and has suffered through excruciating pain while remaining kind and considerate of her doctor's and nurses. She has had to rely on many friends and family for support and assistance and has been beyond appreciative of the outpouring of love she has received.
We hope through this fundraiser and others to come that we can alleviate her biggest worries of not being able to meet her financial responsibilities, losing her car, her apartment, damaging her credit, not being able to attend HACC next semester, and not having money to finish her surgeries.
The expected recovery time for her injuries is currently 9 months to 1 year. The surgeries she is currently expected to need cost anywhere from $2,000-$16,000 each. Her initial trauma treatment bill is already expected to be $18,000-$23,000.
Please help us help Trinity recover from this brutal attack. Your donation will help her be able to return to her life even stronger and more determined to succeed than before.
