Hi Everybody,
My name is Jason and I am the founder and owner of Just Jason dance company in Maastricht. I have toiled for 12 years to build a company where the motto is: dance if for everybody. And now we have build something a LOT of people call: Home. Because that is what it feels like.
To build something like this where it's not about just dance, but about a place where you can be yourself with all your eccentricities and still strive for the best was something I had on my bucketlist forever. Somewhere where the magic healing of dance rules, regardless of race, age, level or social status. Making an honest living off of this was my very first bucketlist item.
I am proud of what we build, but moreover I am very thankful of the community that appreciates the dancing, the training and the atmosphere.
After 2 years of lockdown we had the privelege to restart with a lot of our previous dancers coming back and we were so happy to welcome new ones as well. And we restarted our show-team training as well, welcoming a third one. My love for dancing stems from the freedom of social dancing, but creating shows and seeing how it inspires the community has now also become something I have put hours and hours into to become a better performer, a better choreographer, an artist.
And in doing that, one very BIG bucketlist opened up for us: Getting invited on an international stage, because of our qualities and what we stand for. Not only that, but I was invited by my mentor and a person that had a very big hand in shaping me as a dancer and teacher both physically and mentally: Brian van der Kust. And then on top of that, we're invited to the country where I was born and raised, Suriname. I get to go back and give back with the skills I have grown throughout all these year. That is TWO bucketlist things in one!! But this opportunity came way sooner than we expected.
And this is where you come in.
Just like every company out there, we are still reeling, still recovering from the lockdown period. Not only were we not allowed to operate for two whole years, but our costs, our bills just kept going. So we're entering the race already held back by this big gaping two year hole. And even though Just Jason has been very fortunate to welcome a lot of new dancers every single season, it is still very hard for us.
Salsuri is sponsering a lot of our costs and Just Jason is also covering a bunch of the costs, but we're not there yet. This is why I now call on our strongest asset: Our community, you.
This was actually suggested by a couple of our dancers, so here it is. If you could help us cover some of our costs for our trip to Suriname, it would be greatly appreciated by all of us. We're going with 8 people so the costs are quite high, even with sponsering and Just Jason stepping in.
And we want to keep giving you happiness through dance, so any help however small is GREATLY appreciated. So to any and all that have a place in their heart for Just Jason, we would love it if you help us spread this joy we have given and are giving to everybody to my first hometown, Paramaribo, Suriname.
Please feel free to share this with anybody that carries Just Jason in their hearts and thank you in advance. Whatever you can spare to help us, we will be so very very grateful. And lastly remember that dance is happiness, dance is recharge from the daily grind.
Thank you for your help,
Jason & Team Jason
