Trisha & Jerry's Journey

Donation protected

Cancer may have affected Trisha's body, but it hasn't affected her heart! She still inspires us with her Faith and positive attitude towards life. She calls everything a Journey. She continuely shares her gift with others, and her genuine love and deep loyalty doesn't go unnoticed. Her compassion, forgiving heart, devotion to family and friends and charitable nature, moves her to help others in need. It could be helping a homeless person, helping to build school in Honduras, caring for a family member or randomly reaching out to someone with a warm gesture or her contagious smile.  She is also passionate and a voice for the voiceless. She continually gives, such as, helping her neighbor set up a horse rescue website and donating sand for their barn. Trisha is authentic. She shares her gifts with humility and never speaks badly about anyone. She inspires others! As her husband Jerry said,  when they first met, "There's something special about her." We agree. Even stray or injured animals find their way to her. A gift she has had since she was a child.

Trisha and Jerry's journey began before they even met. Their paths crossed several times before they finally connected. At first everything started as a warm friendship, but eventually they blossomed into loving soul mates.

On July 2, 2011, Trisha and Jerry wed. Although, they didnt find each other until later in life. It was a first wedding for both and a match made in heaven! They share several common interest including their love and devotion to God, love of family and friends, and a passion for animals. With plans laid out before them, they could barely wait to journey forward, together.

Their dream was to find a home in the country where they could live in peaceful harmony with nature, and forest creatures. Operating an animal rescue was a shared dream. They had experience rescuing cats and dogs and hoped to rescue a variety of animals, including wildlife.

Shortly after their wedding, Jerry was offered a position four hours away in northern Minnesota. Their love of the north woods made this a perfect fit, but it would come with sacrifices. They would have to live apart, only seeing each other every other week. A painful separation for newlyweds, but, a trade off to make their dreams come true. Jerry moved up north and Trisha stayed behind taking care of their pets, and keeping her job in Minneapolis until they could be reunited in a new home.

Weeks turned into months and finally they found their paradise! A country home on 10 acres with enough space to start an Animal Rescue. Their future looked very promising. In October of 2013, they closed on their new home. They were very excited!

Two weeks later, Trisha received heartbreaking news. She was diagnosed with stage 4 terminal lung cancer which had already spread to her brain. She was given six months to live. We were all devastated!

As her battle raged, Trisha soldered on, fighting an amazing battle since 2013! Through it all, Trisha continues to spread her seeds of love, hope and faith with all those who cross her path.

Having endured several chemotherapies, radiation, and numerous other procedures, she will soon have a fith procedure of full brain radiation and radiation to a new spot on her spine. Currently, she has had three threatments to remove cancerous fluid from around her lung. We are hoping that a new chemotherapy will help with this issue. Time will tell, but Trisha's faith and "love for life" pushes her forward to fight. She tells us that LIFE is worth fighting for, especially a life with Jerry.

Needless to say, this has been a significant financial burden and stress for them. Trisha has not been able to work for quite some time. They are on a  very tight budget and not all medical treatments and prescriptions are covered by insurance. They also have expenses for transportation for the numerouse trips to the cities and lodging expenses in Rochester to attend the Mayo Clinic. Jerry has also checked into some successful alternative treatments, but they are very expensive!

This is  why the family of Trisha and Jerry have decided to start a "GO FUND ME' account. We want to help this amazing couple with their financial needs and to help Trisha contine to beat the odds! We love her and the world would not be the same without her.
