The Baby Tristan Fund

My name is Lynn Davis. On Monday, July 18, 2016, I became a Nana for the 3rd time. A beautiful, healthy, 7lb 14oz little boy. His name is Tristan. On Friday, 4 days after he was born, he developed a low grade fever and was put on antibiotics. By Sunday, he had been placed in the NICU unit at CFVMC. His platelet count had dropped below 22,000 (150,00 being normal). The Doctors were baffled by his sudden decline. By Tuesday, his little heart had started to fail him. He was immediately transferred to UNC. He was diagnosed with a viral infection called Enterovirus. To date, Tristan has undergone several blood transfusions, platelet transfusions, a cryocipritate tranfusion and infusions of IvIg which are antibodies to help him fight this viral infection. He's been on a ventilator and has been sedated since being there. In reality, the Doctors have informed us that the mortality rate for this infection is really high. This little boy is in very critical condition. Tristan's Father, Damien, can not afford to take any time for work to be there with his son. Tristan's Mother, Stefanie is currently staying at the Ronald McDonald House and he has 2 big sisters, Makyla and Braylee who are staying with family members and have not even had the oportunity to spend any time with their new baby brother. Sonny and I have have been out of work since Tuesday and are traveling back and forth to Chapel Hill daily. His prognosis is currently unknown, but he is a very sick little boy. I'm not one who normally asks anyone for help, but in order to continue to be there for Tristan and continue to provide support for all involved, we need your help.
