Triston Gill - Severe Aplastic Anemia
Donation protected
Hello. Sisters Liz & Stacy here to explain what has happened recently to our brother Chandler, his wife Courtney & their youngest son Triston (he's the cutie pictured)
In October, Triston started showing signs of illness. After a few scary weeks in the hospital not knowing what the root causes were, Triston was finally diagnosed with severe Aplastic Anemia. This rare blood disease requires weekly visits to Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago for transfusions because his bone marrow is not producing enough blood cells
Long-term survival will require a Stem Cell Transplant via donated bone marrow that is scheduled for February 16. The transplant itself is not very invasive, but Triston will have to undergo a multitude of treatments including Chemotherapy & Radiation to remove his unproductive cells in the days preceding the transplant. This will put him in a very weakened state leading to weeks in the hospital followed by weeks at Ronald McDonald House then weekly checkups for a full year to track milestones to full recovery
We both had multiple people ask us if there was a Go Fund Me to help support Chandler & Courtney on this difficult journey. After drawing up some formulas in Excel considering Mileage to/from Chicago, Parking, Meals & One-Time Costs of preparing their home in anticipation of Triston's return, we now understood how much of a financial burden this could end up being. Fortunately, Chandler & Courtney have good health insurance with a reasonable deductible PLUS extremely supportive teams at their places of work, but the additional costs outlined above are adding up
So if you can give something here, THANK YOU! Every little bit counts. But if you can’t give monetarily, they are also gladly accepting positive thoughts, prayers & good vibes. Additionally, any excess funds raised will be donated back to Lurie Children’s Hospital
Courtney & Chandler love you all so much & appreciate all you do. Stay up to date with Triston’s progress on Courtney’s Facebook
