Trooper Abe Bean

On Sunday, December 17, 2023, Trooper Abe Bean of the Martinsburg Detachment of the West Virginia State Police, was struck by bullets fired by a suspect while attempting to serve a warrant. Trooper Bean was struck four (4) times. He was transported for emergency medical treatment and later transferred to Fairfax Inova Hospital where he underwent surgery for serious injuries. As a result of his injuries, Abe’s left leg was amputated from just above the knee.

With his dedication to our state and the public for the past 3 years, he has paid a tremendous sacrifice.

He is currently in the ICU and will remain inpatient at Inova. He will be transferred to a step-down unit, eventually rehabilitation, then be fitted with a prosthetic. After a life changing event such as this, Abe and his family will continue to need support from those around them.

Abe has received considerable support from his family, the West Virginia State Police, the Virginia State Police, and surrounding communities. His father, Brian, Alex (girlfriend of 5 years) and his siblings, Courtney, Nick, and Lucas remain steadfast by his side. Abe has one daughter, Adeline (age 3) who is no doubt one of the greatest joys of his life.

All funds raised will go directly to Trooper Bean and his family to be used for food, transportation, and lodging.
