Help Rescue Dog Trooper Walk Again: Support His Vet Care
Donation protected
Trooper is a rescue dog and star of an upcoming children’s book about dog rescue, taking action when you see something, and the humane treatment of animal. He urgently needs the community’s help after an injury from slipping and facing sudden, painful, but treatable complications with his spine that has resulted in his inability to walk or use one of his back legs.
We often get asked what breed he is because you don’t see them very often. He’s a Treeing Walker Coonhound! People love petting his long, velvety ears.
5 years ago, it was community support that rallied for his rescue when a photo of him emaciated, starved and chained outdoors to an igloo near the wood went viral. (See below.) After being rescued by law enforcement and the animal cruelty division, and receiving amazing care nursing him back to health by the humane society and a wonderful local rescue, he was adopted by our family, never having to worry about food, shelter from the storms, or being left alone again.
Now, in this unexpected turn of events, he needs the community to be a part of his life story again so he can thrive and fulfill the next few years of his life, and receive the medical care he needs and get back to his love for the outdoors, few mile hikes, snuggles on the couch and bringing joy to people.
We hope you will consider donating and being a part of the next chapter in his life.
Combined his emergency veterinary care, imaging, diagnostics, and anticipated surgery or alternative care expenses will total over $9,000.
The expected outcome is returning to his mobile, active, goofy life, which he’s a good candidate for, and is the dog he was the day before he suddenly stopped being able to walk or use his leg.
Your donation will go toward Trooper’s immediate and long-term medical expenses and care. Any funds donated beyond the expenses of his care will go toward costs associated with the publishing and promotion of his children’s book to help bring his special story to the hands and imaginations of children.
From our family to you, Trooper sends his licks, wagging tail, and unforgettable hound bark in thanks and appreciation for your support.
