Troublesome Fire Evacuated Animals Feed Relief
Donation protected
Bar Lazy J, located just outside the evacuated areas in Grand County, is one of many local ranches taking in evacuated livestock from the East Troublesome fire areas. At this time we are accepting all livestock and will do so until we are full. We currently have cattle, horses and small farm animals sheltering here and we are so happy to offer a safe place for them at this time. In addition to losing homes and businesses, many people escaped with their animals, but lost their winter hay supplies as their barns and pastures burned. All donations will be coordinated with local sources to provide feed for evacuated animals while they are displaced and establishing local "hay and feed banks" in three locations where farms and ranches can pick up feed as needed or have it delivered to them in the months to come. Our goal is to take as much of this weight off of their shoulders for as many people as we can, so they can focus on their homes and family without worrying how they will feed their animals. A difficult drought year means local hay is scarce and extremely expensive and our recent snowstorm was wonderful for the fire, but eliminated the rest of our grazing areas. We are working with hay suppliers both in and out of state to secure hay deliveries to our area that can be stored and shared with neighbors county-wide who are in need. Every penny supports these effort and we'll share updates so you can see where your generosity is being shared. On behalf of our farms, ranches and our 4-legged family members--THANK YOU from the heart of Grand County for your incredible support!
