Troy (Jeff) and Stephanie Somers family fund

This GoFundMe me page is being set up for the Somers family to help offset some of the expenses resulting from Jeff's untimely death on July 7th.

Funds will go directly to Jeff's wife (Stephanie Somers) of 29 years.

Before I go into the details of what happened, I'd like to talk about Jeff and who he was briefly. Jeff served in the Navy and was a man that loved his family deeply. He would literally give you the shirt off of his back. He never met a stranger, and is one of the most genuine people I've ever met. He loved cars, camping, hunting and fishing. He was commonly referred to as a giant teddy bear. He loved people, and people loved him.

Jeff was diagnosed incorrectly with type 2 diabetes in his late 20's. Unable to be controlled with medication, he suffered many health issues.... and ended up in a coma in 2014 when he was finally diagnosed correctly as type 1 diabetic, and was insulin pump dependent. The damage was already done to his heart and his kidneys. In 2020, Jeff's kidneys failed completely and he was subjected to dialysis 3 times a week. Jeff was put on the donor list for a new kidney and waited for his match. His heart continued to decline while waiting and he was told he was no longer eligible for the kidney transplant. In Nov of 2021, Jeff and Stephanie buried their eldest daughter after she passed away unexpectedly. Jeff's health continued to deteriorate causing many hospital stays, and In January of 2023, Jeff was diagnosed with cancer. On June 29th, Jeff went into cardiac arrest, resulting in a loss of oxygen to his brain for over 45 minutes, and 30 minutes to resuscitate him. After over a week of waiting to know the outcome of the damage done during his arrest, the family made one of the hardest decisions that a family must make, to honor a loved one's wishes to be let go in a situation where there is no hope. That leads us to where the family is today. Not only is there the suddenness of his cardiac arrest, the loss of a dearly loved family member and friend to many, there are still two minor children in the home Stephanie must provide for.
