TRU BFA Grad Students Exhibition Fund

Hello!

We're the Thompson Rivers University Bachelor of Fine Arts graduating class of 2024. We're fundraising to pay for our end of year exhibition, which will run from April 13th to May 1st in the TRU Art Gallery and visual arts wing of Old Main.

The Dean of Arts, Richard McCutcheon, recently announced that the Board of Directors has decided "to discontinue the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Visual Arts, major), the BA (Visual Arts, minor), the Diploma in Visual Arts, and the Visual Arts Studio Certificate. This decision is aligned with TRU’s strategic planning...(and) reflects our responsibility to adapt to changing student needs, job market trends, and societal priorities."

Despite this disappointing decision, we (and the students of 2025) are still graduating. So, we need support from our wider community, many of whom were against the choice to dissolve the BFA program and greatly boosted our morale during the TRU senate hearings regarding it. We recognize that you have already given us so much; still we are asking for donations as we believe our exhibition benefits TRU and Kamloops. Additionally, any unspent money will go towards the 2025 Grad students' exhibition, and this campaign will remain open so that they also can use it to raise necessary funds next year.

The money will specifically be spent on creating a catalogue of the exhibition, catering, installation expenses, and honorariums for speakers and volunteers.
