I am starting to fund-raise for graphic novel called "True Paladins: Trials of Faith" (C) 2016. This is a faith-based tale that I wrote because I was seeing to many things based solely off traditional Bible stories. I was inspired to write a faith-based book that would relate to today's teenagers and adults. The story deals with struggles of abuse, addiction, redemption, and renewal of one's Faith.
I grew up in the 1980's and was inspired not only by my Faith, but from movies such as, "The Highlander," "Blade Runner," "Willow," "Aliens," "Back to the Future," "Goonies," "Terminator," "Empire Strikes Back," and"Indiana Jones" to name a few. I also collected a lot of comics in the late 1980's including works such as, "The Uncanny X-Men," "Dr. Strange," and the "Avengers." I am a big fan of the Jim Lee's art work, and recently Charlie Adlard. My graphic novel ended up being 120 pages, written in script format, attached to panel and page. It has already been edited for grammar mistakes, and additionally was copy edited by a professional.
I need an artist that has experience illustrating for comics or graphic novels using Adobe Illustrator CC or similar products to create the artwork in layers. So the art can be animated for future promotions of the graphic novel on a web site or Facebook page. To hire an artist that meets my criteria, and similarity in skill level of the aforementioned artists, is not cheap. Plus, I still have cost in promoting, printing, and publishing the graphic novel. I do have a full-time job, and a family that includes four children. To save the money for this graphic novel's art would literally take years since in my life, faith and family come first. Most artists I have researched that have the experience and skill level cost anywhere from $80 to $200 dollars a page. The publishing and printing costs are estimated around $2000 to $4,000. The skill of "Lettering," for a graphic novel is an art onto itself which is another $1000 to $1500 dollars. So any donations large or small are greatly appreciated and will directly be used for the graphic novel. Thank you.
