Raising money for surgery to avoid cancer

Donation protected
Hi I’m Christy. I work full time, go to school full time, and also have been working on building my brand on the side over the last year. All that seems to be a strain as medical issues have been popping up left and right and I’m able to work less and less. It started last year when they weren’t sure if I had a small stroke or something else neurological. They ruled out fibromyalgia and lupus. We were in the process of checking for MS or a brain tumor but I couldn’t afford the scans. Then that was put on the back burner as 2024 has started off as a doozy to say the least.

In January I had a LEEP procedure to remove precancerous cells that were in the very last stage before cancer. My mother wanted to be here for that because she was scared for me where I was not that concerned. I thought it would be quick and fix the issue like 99% of patients experience. My mother passed unexpectedly a few weeks before the procedure and even though I told her I didn’t need her to fly out to hold my hand through a small procedure I wish now that she could have.

The procedure went as planned and I thought I was good but 2 weeks later I had emergency surgery for delayed hemorrhaging. It was traumatic because I had never had surgery before and I’ve never lost that much blood before.

Now I few weeks out from surgery I go for a follow up hoping to get good news. They weren’t able to get margins with the original procedure. My doctor originally said let’s follow up in 3 months and see if we need additional surgery or to see if my body fights it. Nervous, I schedule the follow up.

The next morning she calls me at 7am because is been weighing on her and she tells me to go ahead a schedule the surgery because she is worried it will be cancer by June.

So here I am. I used all my sick and vacation time for my mother’s funeral and I have no savings to speak of. The recovery time for a full hysterectomy is a few weeks and even with insurance I have to pay up to $7k out of pocket. I don’t have the numbers yet but will update this once I do. I usually just walk it off and power through anything because a girl and her cat has got to eat. Unfortunately, I’m being benched on this one since even the most minor procedure didn’t go as planned and I need a way to cover the out of pocket and keep up the bills.

So as hard as it is to admit I’m not superwoman that can just work through anything, I’m asking for help. We have no family or friends out here in California. Everyone is 2500 miles away but at least I do have insurance and wonderful doctors willing to help fight this.

Anything donated that I don’t end up needing for these expenses will be donated to someone else in a similar situation. Thank you for taking the time to read this and god bless. Prayers and shares truly appreciated.
