Tsav Npis Xyooj Memorial Fund

Donation protected
In the early afternoon of June 23, 2022, Cha Bee Xiong passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home, surrounded by his wife and daughter. He was 75 years old.

On behalf of the Xiong Family, we have established this GoFundMe Page where friends and family can send “Sunshine Money.” All donations will go toward funeral and related family expenses. Cha Bee Xiong was born on May 25, 1947, in Sam Thong, Laos. Like many Hmong, he fled to Thailand to evade persecution during the Vietnam War. Eventually, in 1979, Cha Bee Xiong and his family immigrated to America in hopes of finding a better life. He and his family first arrived in Texas and relocated to Illinois and then Wisconsin before ultimately settling in Minnesota.

He made courageous sacrifices in the face of war, and continually endured and overcame hardships so that his family and others could have a better life. Much of his time was spent perfecting his craft and love for the “qeej,” a sacred instrument and constant in his life since the age of five. Cha Bee Xiong felt most comfortable outdoors, always farming, fishing, or otherwise engaged with the Earth’s land and natural environment—it reminded him of his childhood and his fond memories of Laos and Thailand.

A funeral service will be held on July 31, 2022, at 8:00 AM, at the address below. For more information, please contact a member of the family.
