Join Our Journey: TSP LALV for a Shared Impact

Hey y'all! thanks for following along as I train for The Speed Project LALV in late March, an ultra endurance race from the Santa Monica pier to the iconic Las Vegas sign. TSP embodies the community effort and personal grit that makes ultra running so special. I'm thrilled to compete alongside exceptional athletes and with friends providing crew support. Bearing in mind the general state of the world, and the benefits fitness brings to our lives, I am raising funds both for my team and two nonprofits that support healthy living for those in need. Funds will be split between RV, lodging, and supplies (50%) as well as the National Alliance on Mental Illness (25%) and the Homestretch Foundation (25%). You can find more info about our team and each organization below. Every bit helps, thank you so much!
Our team! I am so grateful to my best friend Daniel, who has known me most of my life, for committing to this adventure as our crew chief/primary driver. I’m grateful to my good friend Morgan who has crewed me for 50 and 100 mile efforts - she’ll be in attendance organizing much of the logistics and assisting with driving. And I feel so reassured knowing my good friends Bertin Gisagara (a new father and my longtime training partner) and Meredith Chambers (an accomplished marathoner and fitness coach) will be there to manage my recovery, nutrition, pace, etc. I am committed to alleviating their financial commitment to this team effort as much as I can and so appreciate your help.
A huge shout out to my employer Pacers Running and my brand partners On and Honeystinger for their support with travel and gear.
NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. They offer educational programs, support groups, and a help line for both information and crisis support. NAMI advocates for public policy that supports both those with mental illness and their caregivers. NAMI also leads awareness events to fight stigma and encourage understanding.
In Tucson AZ (where I'm from!) the Homestretch Foundation is a non-profit that provides support for women living below the poverty line who have careers in endurance sports. In many arenas of these sports there are no guaranteed annual base salaries for women, unlike their male peers. Some contracts offer zero compensation, not even for travel and basic training costs. Homestretch addresses this pattern of financial inequity by providing subsidized room and board and discounted or free coaching, medical/dental coverage, and physical therapists. They provide mentoring, career development, support with contract negotiations, etc.
