Rocky's eye surgery

My name is Erin, and myself, along with my wife Cindy and our two kids, Adi and Amaya, are the lucky guardians and caretakers of this handsome fellow Rocky Ortiz. Rocky is 13 years old and was the beloved pet of Miguel and Leticia Ortiz, my In-Laws for many years. He has since lost his parents but has allowed me to fill the role for the past few years. Rocky developed an ulcer and accompanying infection in his right eye this past Spring. It has since become re-infected and he now needs to have his eyeball removed. The vet believes that he will recover from this surgery quite well and likely has 3 to 5 more years to give us. My family loves this dog and he is also a comforting reminder of Grandma and Papi Hola, who we also love and miss so much, so we're not ready to say goodbye to him. An unexpected expense like this just before the holidays is, of course, challenging.
