A Mini-Horse Named Koda
Donation protected
We hope to help Ella Voisine, age 14, cover expenses for a year for her mini-horse named KODA. After her parents divorced, Koda went to many homes (hours away) for a year until Ella finally got him back on March 9, 2021. His food and board, vet bills, hip supplements, and farrier, are too much for a schoolgirl who is looking for a new part-time job. She also has a fee of $730 that was paid to transport Koda up to Caribou, Maine, to a barn a mile from where Ella now lives. The fund will take care of the little horse’s expenses for a year. Here are Ella’s own words:
“I worked hard and saved my money to buy Koda. When you ask me why I spend so much money keeping him, I think about the little girl seeking refuge in his mane when her heart was broken. I think about the time he caught the same girl’s tears when she ran away because her parents were fighting. When the anxiety at school was overwhelming for that now older girl, a long walk with him made her remember where home is. I think about the friends that were made, the memories that followed. All because of him. I think of how he whinnies only when he sees her, or hears her voice. He lent her confidence when she needed it most, a sense of freedom when she felt trapped, and a soft nose when she sought comfort. He became her home when her parents got divorced and her childhood house was sold. He became the constant when everything she knew was changing. He is with her until the end. He has paid his little girl in ways dollars can’t count. So please don’t tell me my horse is a waste of money because I’ll show you a million reasons why he isn’t. I decided to share this with you because I have some amazing news. My Koda is home!!”
NOTE: The fund will take care of Koda’s expenses for a year. All monies will go to a separate account set up for this purpose.
