Breast Implant Illness Surgery

Donation protected
At the age of 20 Lorelei was like most young women and jumped on the Breast Implant band wagon. At such a young age the comprehension of such a life long decision was not fully understood or even explained by the plastic surgeon performing the surgery or even acknowledged by the FDA. The information that is available now gives so much light to the possible consequences of such an invasive and dangerous surgery.

One year after Lorelei had her implants put in she was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. As a 21 year old, she did not even think to associate the recent diagnosis with the implants nor did any Dr.’s. The rheumatologist prescribed a medication that made Lorelei bloated and gave her severe indigestion. So it was not something that she could continue taking.  She also was diagnosed with depression and anxiety and placed on medications that began a vicious cycle of uncertainty and a dependency on medication to feel “normal”.

Lorelei began to grow older...that included getting married and trying to have children.   She has in fact been blessed with 5 amazing children but the path to get there was rough. She had 6 miscarriages and 1 ectopic pregnancy. She began to experience arthritic symptoms in almost all of her joints and due to trying to conceive she went off her medications. During those first few years of being off antidepressants and antianxiety medications, when normal life issues arose she had new symptoms...hives, welts, all over body itching. Her Dr would tell her that it was a side effect of the anxiety. She believed the Dr, why wouldn’t she? That it was we are supposed to do.

In 2013 , she began to do more research on health and food. She began to treat her depression and anxiety naturally. She also learned that she had a new found gluten intolerance and removed gluten and wheat from her diet. This helped her bloating and indigestion. She also began to have an intolerance to smells. They would give her migraines and make her nauseous. This was a hard pill to swallow for someone who once embraced life “Smells” since they reflect memories. At this time she also began to have sinus issues. Her membranes began to always feel swollen and she began to notice an ever so slight difference in her face. She had dark circles under her eyes that never go away.

She began to dive hard into a healthy lifestyle to try and combat the extreme fatigue and constant body pain. In 2017 she delivered her surprise twins. That is when her health began to take a turn for the worse. Her symptoms began to overload her in 2018: extreme fatigue, excessive hair loss, chronic body pain, ringing in the ears, worsened nasal issues, more frequent headaches, heart palpitations, aching in her chest muscles, higher sensitivity to lotions and deodorants, cystic acne, unexplained red patches on her chest, blurry vision, foggy brain, unable to concentrate, forgetfulness, extreme irritability, insomnia, dry skin, no appetite…. This list could continue. She has also never able to successfully breastfeed her babies, she could never produce enough milk, no matter her efforts.

She went to the Dr and they ran multiple tests, that all came back inconclusive. One Dr thought that she had hypothyroidism but her blood work suggested otherwise. Another diagnosed her with Hashimotos and put her on Selenium. This helped minimally improve some symptoms.

In 2019 Breast Implant Illness (BII) was first introduced to her. The thought had never even crossed her mind because she was always told that Saline implants were safe, It was the silicone ones that were unsafe. That hers were not ruptured or hard (capsular contracture), they were still in tact and had no signs of leaking. She was wrong. The implants are saline but they are still in a silicone container and her body has been fighting these foreign toxins since day one. It all began to make sense.  https://healingbreastimplantillness.com/ site solidified everything. How could she be feeling this way at 36 years old with no conclusive diagnosis from a Dr?  The FDA has also recently acknowledged that certain implants have been linked to cancer. Seems that they are slowly realizing how toxic these things are. https://www.fda.gov/medical-devices/letters-health-care-providers/breast-implant-associated-anaplastic-large-cell-lymphoma-bia-alcl-letter-health-care-providers

This has led us here today. The only way to make this all stop is to get the implants removed. Being a mother of 5 children, the funds to get them removed are not something that is readily available. Lorelei also is having a hard time justifying taking out a high interest loan or a second on the house, as it would put undue stress on her husband who is the main provider for their family.  She has began working part time from home to help alleviate some financial stress for her house but she is unable to save anything extra for an explant surgery.

Lorelei is currently doing everything she can to get through these symptoms, but ultimately only removing them will give her a chance at healing. Her quality of life is not what it should be and her children deserve a mother that has more joy and energy.

So this is what has led me to start this Go Fund Me.  I believe her story needs to be heard to help other young moms who have unexplainable health issues that could be caused by BII.  I also want to help. It is hard to watch your friends battle health issues. It’s even harder when you know that there is an answer out there that they can’t afford and insurance won’t cover.  If you feel led to help please do. Surgery will cost about $12,000 and all proceeds from this campaign will go straight to that. Anything over (God willing) will be donated to Breast Implant Illness research.  Prayers are also much appreciated. Prayers for funding and prayers for healing.
