Hi, my name is Amy but everybody calls me Liberty. I am a survivor of domestic violence. I escaped an extremely dangerous man who groomed me, separated me from all of my friends and family, emotionally and physically battered me and nearly killed me.
He sold my belongings, including my car and controlled my paychecks. I left with a school sized backpack and $200.
With a huge amount of help from HIS family, I was able to get my family photos, clothes and some of my kitchen things. They also filled in the gaps for me when I needed help with a security deposit and a bed.
I was offered a safe place to live and work in a very small town (400-ish people) in Montana. I started working the day after I moved here and now i have a second job as well.
Unfortunately, wages here are very low. I was working as a pastry chef in the little organic market here (which is what i went to school for) but they were only paying me $10.00 an hour and I had to move on. Now I’m doing housekeeping in two different Hot Spring hotels. Nothing to brag about but hey, its solid work and now I’m making $14.00 at one and $12.00 at the other. My paychecks cover my few bills and some left over for food (with help from the food bank) and propane.
Right now I’m using a car my friend loaned me .. its in super bad shape and A BEAR smashed the drivers side window out last July!!! I’m worried because it’s going to be really cold here soon and I desperately need to be able to get myself to work.
I work hard and I’ve come so far .. please help if you can.
Thank You,
liberty
