Help Tucker Lee fight NUT Carcinoma NOW !

On 4/12 Tucker went to see a sports medicine doctor about pain in his side.  He had been fighting what he thought was an infection that seemed to have turned into pneumonia.  Instead what was discovered started a two week ordeal that included surgery and biopsies.  He was transferred to KU med on 4/14 and started treatment for what the Dr's only knew was a poorly differentiated malignancy.  The biopsies were sent to the Dana Farber Institute and the Mayo Clinic.   On 4/30 results came back from the Dana Farber Institure at Harvard and  Tucker was diagnosed with NUT carcinoma. This is a very rare type of cancer with only 20 people in the US being diagnosed every year. Since there are very few patients diagnosed with this cancer there is no set regimen for treatment. While the prognosis is not good, they have a great team at KU med that are in contact with oncologists at Dana Farber who have research trials for this particular cancer.  They are confident in the decisions made so far and the plan they have for the near future. Tucker finished up his 5th day of chemo on Sunday the 2nd. He hasn’t felt great due to receiving a very aggressive chemo dose.  They will have to wait 21 days for Tucker's body to bounce back from the start of his first round of chemo to start his second round/complete a washout period prior to a clinical trial. They are unsure of what the next round will consist of and are waiting to see what his oncologist finds out from Dana Farber in regards to any clinical trials.    It appears at this time that they could be traveling to Boston, Houston, or maybe even KC.  In all of those cases there will be travel and lodging costs that are going to add up quickly along with many additional medical costs.   Please consider donating to help Tucker and Bri fight this devastating cancer.  You can follow Tucker's story at Caring Bridge:
