Tucson's "Umbrella Lady" Memorial

UPDATE: The public memorial will be held at Tohono Chul Gardens on January 30th 2023 from 2-4 pm. If possible please bring an Umbrella to honor Lydia.

Tucson's famous "Umbrella Lady" was the victim of a hit and run on the morning of January 5th on Ina and Oracle. The umbrella lady is an icon of Tucson and we want to help her in her time of need.

(Update: We have confirmed that Lydia Reis (the umbrella lady) passed away from her injuries. The money we have raised and all donations going forward will be put toward a public memorial service and all funeral costs for Lydia.)

My name is is Kristie Zoltowski. I have lived in Tucson for 36 years. I've seen Lydia all over Tucson from Catalina to midtown. I've always felt a connection with the umbrella lady and her story. When I heard about her accident I knew I had to help somehow and I am devastated by her passing.

I'm in the process of planning the memorial service and funeral for Lydia with the money from the donations. I'm also currently in contact with her family and am hoping to work with them in the process going further.
