#TuffysFight [UPDATED]
Donation protected
UPDATE: Tuffy and her family were featured on Fox29 news on November 3rd and 4th, 2016 - if you saw the story and wish to show your support, they are now accepting donations to this campaign on behalf of the Tuffy's Fight Cannabis for Epilepsy Foundation. For more information on the foundation or to get in touch with Tuffy's family, follow them on social media: #TuffysFight and @tuffysfight on Instagram. Thanks!
FROM PREVIOUS CAMPAIGN: My name is N.A. Poe, I am an entertainer and cannabis activist from Philadelphia.
As a cannabis activist, I've met some incredible people, but few have touched my heart as much as Ricardo Rivera and his beautiful daughter Tatyana, a.k.a. Tuffy. Nine-year-old Tuffy suffers from Lennox Gastaut Syndrome, a rare and catastrophic form of epilepsy. At one point, she was suffering from over 300 seizures a day, including 25-30 grand mal seizures.
About a year and a half ago, Ricardo discovered that cannabis virtually eliminated the seizures, and since she has been a licensed patient, Tuffy's progress has been nothing short of miraculous. Unfortunately, the medical marijuana program in New Jersey is not only costly--$535 an ounce--it offers extremely limited resources for compassionate care, both in terms of education and treatment options.
I've recently returned from a three-week trip to Colorado, where I met some amazing people in the cannabis industry whom I believe can provide the information and training Ricardo seeks to provide the best care for his daughter, since the NJ medical marijuana program has failed him.
I am raising money to send Ricardo to Colorado for five days to get some hands-on education, explore treatment options and to have a first look at the area, should he have to move west to be able to give his precious daughter the care she needs. Under current laws, he will not be able to bring back any of the medicine itself.
The money we are raising will fund Ricardo's flight, rental car, gas and lodging, as well as to produce more tee-shirts and pins to call attention to #TuffysFight.
To be clear, I will be accompanying Ricardo in order to make introductions and document his journey on video, but NONE of the money we are raising will be used to finance my participation in the trip. In fact, I have donated the first $300 myself to get the ball rolling.
This man and his family fight every day not only for their own well-being, but also for people everywhere who need cannabis for a variety of medical conditions. I ask that you join their fight and show your support by donating and sharing!
