Tuition for the Aerospace and Aviation Academy
Donation protected
I was recently invited, based on my interest in aerospace engineering and my academic success, to spend twelve days in Houston at Rice University for the Aerospace and Aviation Academy. This is a summer program that focuses on aerospace engineering, careers in this field, and skills beneficial to the field and life in general.
I am extremely interested in aerospace engineering and hope to study it in college in the near future and pursue a career in it. Over the past two years I have found an interest in sport rocketry and I regularly design, build, and fly my own low and mid power rockets. I constantly take part in model rocket launches with two rocketry clubs in Florida affiliated with the National Association of Rocketry. I am always reading articles, books, and online resources related to aerospace engineering since I am always eager to learn more about the complex science and math that governs the design and flights of rockets and other aerospace vehicles, such as airplanes.
It is an honor to be invited to this amazing program this summer as I will be able to successfully broaden my understanding and knowledge regarding the science, math, and engineering skills that are used by professional aerospace engineers. This program will also equip me with leadership skills that can be used throughout life in higher education and careers. This program will allow me to learn skills and technical information through hands-on activities such as building, launching, and collecting data from a payload sent to the edge of space on a weather balloon, and through many simulations with orbital mechanics, rocketry, satellites, and airfoil design and performance. I will also participate in many hands-on activities and hear from multiple professionals in the aerospace field as I travel to NASA's Johnson Space Center and other similar locations. Finally, I will hear in depth lectures on the science and math behind different aspects of aerospace engineering from Professors at Rice University and gain leadership skills through group projects and presentations. This twelve day program is packed will valuable information and skills that will undoubtedly befit my future in the aerospace field.
Unfortunately, the cost for tuition for the program is quite substantial. The program costs $5,364 paid in $687.86 increments over the course of seven moths, including an initial $549 enrollment payment. This price does not include the upwards of $400 that it would cost for me to travel to and from Houston. My family and I cannot afford to spend almost $700 a month on this program as our limited amount of money must be saved for other and more urgent expenses. This is why I am reaching out for donations from people who support my current and future endeavors.
Attending this program is a once in a lifetime opportunity that will have an enormous impact on my future in college and beyond. Therefore, any donation will be immensely appreciated as it will put me one step closer to this amazing experience.
Thank you so much for your contributions!
