Support Angelo in his defamation case

Donation protected
Angelo Isidorou is a political organizer, free speech activist, a valued member of his Greek community, and a close friend of mine in Vancouver, British Columbia. He has spent the past few years tirelessly advocating for greater free speech and less censorship in society, organizing popular yet controversial events from both sides of the political spectrum, ranging from conservative commentator Ben Shapiro to trans YouTuber ContraPoints, at the University of British Columbia (UBC).

Until very recently, he served on the board of a major political party in Vancouver, the Non-Partisan Association. However, seeking to avoid bringing too much attention to the party, he resigned last week after a series of woke journalists wrote a bunch of defamatory hit jobs, falsely and maliciously painting him as a white supremacist.

The journalists released an image of Angelo wearing a MAGA hat and flashing the "OK" hand sign. The journalists described the symbol as a "white power" symbol, citing the fact that the ADL listed it as a hate symbol in September 2019. However, this photo was taken in February 2017, more than two and a half years before the ADL made this designation. Yet the facts and context were lost amid the defamation campaign, with the mayor of Vancouver even condemning him indirectly.

Anyone who has met Angelo knows how ridiculous these assertions are. Angelo will gladly tell anyone about how his ancestors fought the Nazis in Greece. Throughout his years in the free speech movement, Angelo has worked with people of all races and creeds to advance the cause of liberty. Events he helped plan and coordinate at UBC include a native rights discussion, a protest against the genocidal Chinese government, and a memorial for victims of police brutality. Prior to the coronavirus pandemic, the next even was going to be an exhibition of art censored in Nazi Germany. Many of these events ended up costing Angelo financially, but in his view, it was worth it to support such an important right as freedom of speech.

To protect his reputation from these vicious smears, Angelo is pursuing legal action against The Tyee, the newspaper which published the original story. Unfortunately, Angelo lacks the finances to take on an entire newspaper, and needs your help to support his legal suit.

If you support free speech, oppose cancel culture, and believe that malicious journalists should be held accountable for publishing shameless lies about people with different opinions from them, I implore you to donate to our cause and to help my friend. If we refuse to fight against cancel culture, you might become the next victim.
