Tule the Cat Needs a Dental!
Donation protected
Hello there and thanks for being here,
I adopted Tule when he was an 8 week old kitten and he has been with me ever since. We've been through a lot together and he means the world to me. I recently took him in to the vet because he has been startling very easily- he is scared to walk down the hallway, jumps at the slightest noise or unexpected movement. Of course, this makes me very sad and is hard to see as a pet parent.
Because Tule is only seven, we were all a bit surprised (vet included) when the vet said that he has feline odontoclastic resorptive lesion (FORL) and needs to have at least one of his teeth removed. Our vet thinks that the pain from his tooth decay is causing his heightened startle response. So, in some ways, this good news because once his teeth have been addressed we have hopes that he will no longer be in pain and will be able to calm down.
However, the estimate for the dental work Tule needs done is a minimum of $1,700. I have pet insurance for both of my cats but unfortunately dental work is not covered by their policies. And even if it were, I would need to be able to pay the cost of the procedure upfront before they reimbursed me.
In the past year and a half I had my life turned upside down by chronic illness which impacted my ability to work full-time. Money has been tight. Unfortunately, it's not an usual story. Fortunately, things are starting to look up for me, health-wise, but I am struggling to save the money that I need to cover Tule's dental work in the time frame that he needs.
Any amount you are able to donate would be so so appreciated. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
