Tünde`s eXXpedition- research plastic pollution

Donation protected
Hello and thank you for visiting my #GoFundMe page!

I am Tünde Kelemen an environmental process engineer and safety engineer. I am from Hungary, Budapest, living in Upper-Austria. I am passionate about protecting our environment, my aim was always  to raise awareness on environmental issues and working on global solutions.

By 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. That doesn’t sound right, does it? The good thing is, that we’re still in time to do something about it and save our amazing planet from unsustainable decline.  It is never too late to have a global impact on something incredibly important for our planet. I've decided to do something about the ocean plastic problem by joining eXXpedition .

eXXpedition is an all-female sailing crew looking to tackle the ocean plastic epidemic via citizen science and scientific research. Our amazing work has been featured on SkyNews , The Guardian and CNN .

The crews sail the oceans aboard a 70ft yacht , collecting data and collaborating with universities (Plymouth, UK and Georgia, US), while empowering girls and women to choose and thrive in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) sectors.

eXXpedition have launched Round The World (RTW) , their most ambitious project to date to highlight the misuse of single use plastics and the toxicity of microplastics, as seen below:

It is a unique opportunity to collect data around the world with the same sampling method and feed the data through universities to the governments to make the right regulations.

I have been fortunate to be selected from thousands of applicants to join the crew on the leg 16, starting in Perth, AUS on August 27th 2021 and sailing to Mauritius, arriving on September 23th 2021.
Our sail 3,300 nautical miles across the Indian Ocean is a key voyage, especially as the Indian Ocean garbage patch is still a bit more of a mystery, having only been discovered in 2010. Our planned passage will take us through the main area of marine debris allowing us to carry out key scientific research into the gyre’s characteristics and location.

I am currently looking for sponsorship to support me on this extremely important cause and journey. To make the expedition possible, each crew member must contribute to the cost of the voyage. Overall, I need to contribute around €13,000 to the voyage, which includes flights, vessel usage, expedition expenses. I am saving as much as I can to achieve this, but I'm also hoping you wonderful people might help to support my cause.

Please, please, please SHARE WIDELY throughout your networks - I would be very interested to hear from businesses looking to highlight their involvement and sponsorship of me as an eXXpedition crew member. I invite suggestion and encourage any ideas or donations of products that we can raffel off, all product donors will be acknowledged across media platforms.

Anyone who makes a donation will receive a postcard from the trip (though I'll need your mailing address).
