Turk's Surgery and Medical Expenses
Donation protected
Just an update at where we're at. I printed this today.
From January 1st of this year, to today, we have been to the doctor 19 times. (Out of the 19 visits there was only one that i got scheduled early enough so i could go to work afterwards.) Now that's both Turk and I.
We have had $29,979.40 in bills submitted to the insurance company. This is NOT our cost! I don't have a total of our costs yet because the bills keep coming in.
This total does not include co-pays and prescriptions! Also does not include procedures done at Bluff Imaging which does not accept our insurance but didn't tell us that. Anywhooo.....
Out of the 19 visits, let's say 1/2 has been specialists.
That's $200 a pop for office visit. Then there is procedures such as my ultrasound that was $442 and Turks MRI that was almost $800. Both due at time of service. Then there's prescriptions! O my goodness! These doctors love to write prescriptions and of course have to play around until they find something that works. In March alone we have spent $307 on medications. (And we have really good prescription coverage). A lot of meds don't come in generic so they're considered tier 2 or even 3 meds and that means expensive. Then you try them for 30 days and the doctor switches it to something else! Ughhhh
Anyways, these numbers haunt me. Day in and day out. These numbers are the first thing I think of when I wake up and the last thing before I go to sleep.
So please be patient and understanding with me for sharing the GoFundMe and I really appreciate everybody who has supported us and we are absolutely blessed by the love we have received from absolute strangers!!
Thank you all! We love you! If you have questions, I'm an open book, so message me.
Turk and Amy have been married for 26 years. They have raised 4 kids and now have 5 grandkids. In late 2021 Turk's neck pain got so severe it resulted in surgery to fuse 3 discs. He hasn't been able to work since the surgery due to developing Menier's disease, residual neck pain, and also back pain problems that will also need to be addressed later on down the road.
Losing one of the household's incomes during these tough economic times was difficult enough, adding to the emotional turmoil of the past 2 years with Amy losing both her parents, the stress of Turk's medical conditions and more.
Living in a small town just outside of Poplar Bluff and having to travel to Memphis for treatments is just another hardship on top of everything else. Anything will help and they appreciate everything that anyone can do.
