Help with Expenses After Hospitalization & Surgery

On 5/15, it felt like the infection was back, so I went to the ER. Met with nurses, doctors, and a surgeon. The surgeon was very concerned and recommended doing surgery that night. So that's what we did.

Surgery was successful and I was able to go home on 5/17. Total recovery time will be 4-5 weeks but the surgeon said I should be able to return to work a week after surgery which will be 5/22.

It's such a relief to be home and doing better and am praying that this is the end of it all! At the same time, I've missed 3 weeks of work (unpaid) through all this and it's a pretty significant loss of income for us.

We are doing all we can to recover financially. Asking for help from others is absolutely the last resort and any support, monetary or otherwise, would mean the world to our family and make a difference. Many thanks to all the kind folks who've reached out in the last few weeks to make sure we're okay.

As you may remember, I was admitted to the hospital on 4/25/24 for an infection, severe sepsis and acidosis. I was released on 4/30/24 and cleared to return to work on 5/6/24. There are still some challenges to work through but overall am doing much better and glad to be back home and back to work, too.

Many people have asked if they can help in any way. We rarely ask for or accept help, but in all honesty, we do need some extra support due to lost income from both jobs (totalling about $700) while I was in the hospital and recovering at home.
