Hello My Name is Kimberly Paige Rebovich (Burnham)
I am writing this today to raise money in support of My Brother, Edward Robert Burnham "Bob".
Bob has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Sarcoma (Cancer) end ofJune/beginning of July 2023.
Bob's journey started back in May of 2023. He was having chronic and persistent, at times excruciating pain in his lower back and abdomen.
Bob is a Type 2 Diabetic and was having some trouble with High A1C and Blood Glucose levels. He also has back problems, Including Scoliosis and Herniated Discs. So he has dealt with pain over the years. But this pain was not like any pain he has felt before.
Bob sought treatment at Good Samaritan Hospital on May 8th 2023 and Well Span Health on May10 & 17th 2023 He did not find satisfaction or relief at either medical facility.
He then went to the ER at St. Joseph's Hospital in Reading on May 27th Like the previous medical facilities they started the initial treatment concerned with Bob's Diabetes. Which was/is a major concern.
After running labs the also found his sodium was low. He was subsequently admitted to St. Joseph's to find the source of all his pain and manage his diabetes.
He was given a MRI and Cat Scan.
The Doctors found what they thought was a Hematoma in his back on the left side in between his hip and spine.
Their initial assessment was to allow the Hematoma to absorb back into his body.
Bob was discharged and sent home on June 3rd 2023.
Home visits for Physical Therapy were previously set up, before his stay in the hospital.
During his Physical therapist appointment on June 14th 2023 Bob was in too much pain to do any of his PT.
The therapist called an ambulance to take Bob back to the ER at St. Joseph's Hospital.
However he was not admitted this time.
They gave him pain meds and sent him home. "Stating that they did not admit people for pain." Follow up with your PCP.
Bob had an appointment with a General Surgeon on Tuesday June 20th 2023 under the impression they were going to remove/drain the Hematoma because it had not absorbed back into his body.
The surgeon sent Bob back to the ER at St. Joseph's to have another Cat Scan so they had a more accurate image of the Hematoma.
Bob was admitted to the hospital and
on Thursday the Radiology and IRT team decided to do a biopsy/drain some of the fluid from the Hematoma.
Preliminary results came back with abnormal cells and sent the sample to Hershey Medical center for further pathological testing.
On Friday June 30th Bob was informed that he had a form of Cancer called Sarcoma. (Soft Tissue) 13cm mass in
his Psoas Muscle.
St Joseph's does not have a Sarcoma specialist so as a family we opted to have Bob released from St. Joseph's
to go home to rest and regroup.
After Bob was home for a few days his pain and discomfort was becoming unmanageable. We spoke with his PCP and decided to send him to the ER at UPMC in Lititz on Wednesday July 5th 2023
He was admitted and is currently under their care. After talking with the oncologist today July 8th 2023 The Sarcoma cancer stage 4 has also spread to Bob's lungs and the course of treatment he will be starting is Chemotherapy on Monday July 10th 2023.
My Family and I are asking for Prayers of Strength and Healing for Bob.
Any funds raised here and in the fund raisers in the future will be provided to Bob to help offset his medical costs he has already incurred and to the medical costs yet to come in the future.
Bob has a long road ahead of him.
But with The Grace of God and all the Love, Prayers and Support from Our Entire Family and Such Wonderful Friends, Bob will get through this.
Thank You in advance for Your Kindness and Generosity!
God Bless You!
