Help a Family Find a Safe Home
Donation protected
I'm writing this with tears in my eyes, desperate for help. My family and I thought we'd found a safe haven when we moved into our rental home in March 2024. But the truth is, it's been a never-ending nightmare.
As a mother of five, including foster children who depend on me for a safe and healthy environment, I'm at my breaking point. Our home is a ticking time bomb. Here's a glimpse into the chaos we've endured:
- Electrical outlets in the upstairs bathroom don't work
- Pipes under the sink have fallen off multiple times, flooding our kitchen
- Kitchen flooring is broken and fixed with a metal strip
- Hallway flooring is broken and repaired with super glue that didn't hold
- Bathroom floor behind the toilet is not secured with baseboard, exposing broken drywall
- Exposed insulation in a downstairs bedroom housing the electrical box (we were told to cover it with a picture!)
- Bathroom flooded into the laundry room
- Exposed active electrical outlet in the kitchen that doesn't work
- Power outages when using more than 2 appliances at once, affecting multiple rooms and appliances
- Mold in a downstairs bedroom "treated" with ecoban mold and mildew stain remover (but not remediated)
- Downstairs bathroom flooded with sewage water, left unrepaired and unusable
- Multiple poorly covered outlets and holes that were promised to be fixed - Air conditioning unit unable to keep up during heat waves, forcing us to leave the house for 2 weeks
- Water test failures, with the landlord asking us to pay for treatment (we have well water)
- Yard cleanup costs ($1,000) after finding hazardous materials like glass, needles, and more (the landlord refused to contribute)
But leaving isn't easy. We'll lose our security deposit and face significant moving expenses. That's why I'm turning to you, dear friends and strangers, for help. We need assistance with a new security deposit, first month's rent, and moving costs.
I know we're not alone in our struggles, but I'm willing to do whatever it takes to keep my children safe. They deserve better than a home that's falling apart around them. As foster parents, we've opened our hearts and home to those who need it most. Now, we need your help.
Please, consider donating to our GoFundMe campaign. Every little bit counts, and your generosity will bring us one step closer to a safe and healthy home. I'm grateful for your support during this difficult time.
