Nina's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Nina and her friends went to celebrate the new year at Westport. As the night ended, Nina called for a Lyft ride to get her and her friends home safely. Unfortunately, the senseless acts of others foiled those plans.
Nina was caught amid gunfire on the streets of Westport in Kansas City. As shots rang out, Nina and her friends ran for shelter, but Nina was unable to make it. She was shot four times, one of the bullet remains inside of her. As the ambulance struggled to get to Nina due to traffic and parked cars on crowded streets, Nina was pushed on the gurney down the street to the ambulance where she was then transported to the hospital to undergo surgery.
Nina suffered a ruptured bladder that was repaired in surgery, a cracked pelvis that they are hoping to heal on its own (although that means Nina learns to walk with a walker in the process), a bullet still lodged in her abdomen, not to mention the mental trauma she will have to work her way through.
This random act of violence has shaken us all to our core. We are raising funds so that Nina does not have to worry about expenses while she is recovering. Her job is working with troubled youth which requires stamina and physical capabilities that she will not have for an unknown amount of time. Missed wages need to be last on her mind.
The road ahead is full of unknowns. We continue to ask for your prayers, your well wishes and if able, any donations to support our Nina. Thank you!
