My son is graduating college cum laude.

It is important for me to be there. my son and I don't have the best relationship and over the years I've tried to be there if he should ever want to talk. I don't think my grandkids even know they have a grandpa. I did meet his first child but he probably doesn't remember who I am. this past Father's Day I didn't get a call from either of my kids but 2 days later I received a text from my son saying that he's graduating college. I didn't even know he was in school. For him to tell me this along with the date of the graduation, I took it as he wants me to attend, which I want to.

the problem is I'm disable and live on less than a $1000 a month which isn't enough to pay my rent and utilities at times. I have no money to cover the gas and hotel stay so I'm asking parents and anyone out there to help me get to Houston Texas from North Carolina. I plan on driving down as flying puts too much pressure on my leg which is affected by lymphedema.

I may not have been the best father but I'm really trying to at least be a proud one on the day of his graduation. my goal is $500 which should be enough to cover gas and hotel stay for 3 days. any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you in advance.
