Hathcock Family Home Burns: Support the Recovery
Donation protected
Saturday Nov. 27th, our family home of 40 years burned down.
As my mom pulled up to the house from running her morning errands she saw flames. She quickly ran inside to grab the 2 dogs and make sure her son-in-law was out of the house. As she came through the front door she saw the start of the fire on the deck, grill completely engulfed in flames. She caught a few embers that burned her shirt, but got the dogs and people out unharmed. The next 3.5 hours we sat together and watched our family home burn.
The firefighters did as much as they could to prevent the spread but the fire was so aggressive, it traveled to the neighbors and took their roof and attic too. Firefighters moved to defensive positions only 10 minutes into the fight when one of their own fell through the floor and the structure completely destabilized.
We are devastated.
Nothing in the main house was saved, there is potentially one bedroom that isn't completely lost but the other 3 bedrooms and home office was destroyed. Childhood photos, wedding albums, clothes and keepsakes, heirlooms, custom family made furniture, medications, documents, keys to the cars, my dads accounting business... its all gone
Wells Fargo Home Insurance is not taking any calls until Monday, so we are at a lost for what insurance will do, but starting the clean up and rebuilding process will take a huge toll.
Physical donations will be handled by myself and my parents church. Please email me for information on how to donate physical items.
We are starting Sunday sift through the rubble. Any donations towards the clean up and rebuilding efforts is appreciated beyond belief!
