Twain Harte Fire Volunteer Assoc. 2020 Fundraising

Tax deductible
Want to make a difference? Twain Harte Fire Volunteer Assoc. has had to cancel their fundraising events for the 2020 season, due to COVID-19. Historically Twain Harte Fire puts on 10 events in a season; with the community being mostly vacationers in the summer months, doing events helps us tremendously when raising funds for the year. At the end of each season the volunteer association meets with the department Chief to discuss a piece of equipment to be purchased with the money raised that year. This year we had a plan to purchase a, LUCAS 3 Chest Compression System.

When the association made a decision to purchase the LUCAS 3 Compression System for our department we thought of all the ways this could benefit our community as a whole and the people we serve. Statistically a LUCAS machine has a higher rate of adequate compressions and patient survivability with decreased total hands-off time, as compared to manual CPR. Chest compression quality is better when using a mechanical device during patient movement in a prehospital cardiac arrest patient. The survival rate of a patient in prehospital cardiac arrest is already low, but studies have shown the proper placement and depth ratio of hands on compressions makes the rate fall even lower when manual CPR is provided. When preforming hands on compressions it takes time to build up an adequate intravascular pressure, and this pressure can be lost as soon as change in CPR provider happens. A number of studies show the survival rate of patients when CPR is provided by a mechanical machine, these studies being the main reason behind the purchase of a, LUCAS 3 Compression System. The association has also taken into consideration the staffing patterns we hold here in Twain Harte, and how that has an affect on a CPR call. During most months of the year on average two engines will respond to a CPR call; but during fire season we are at risk to be a single engine response. Not only do we run the possibility of being short handed in fire personnel, but due to Tuolumne County being a small county our ambulance units are already limited, and we could be waiting some time for a free unit to run our call.

Supporting our way of fundraising this year will help us reach our goal to purchase a, Lucas 3 Compression System. Twain Harte Fire Volunteer Fire Assoc. is a 501C3 nonprofit organization and qualify as a tax write off. We'd like to thank you ahead of time for your support to Twain Harte Fire and its community. We can't wait to enjoy our famous margaritas and delicious pancakes with you all very soon.

With hand shakes and Thanks from 6ft away,
Twain Harte Volunteer Assoc. President, Katelynn Boyd.
