Diego’s Surgery

Meet a little boy named Diego, who desperately needs surgery for his airway. He was born with a malformation in his throat, nose, and mouth that causes him to struggle to breathe.

This year, Bolivia was engulfed in expansive fires, leading to weeks of thick smoke hanging in the air. Diego’s problem worsened significantly during this time, and he has been rushed to the hospital on multiple occasions because of further deterioration in his already struggling airways.

Diego has to use sleep apnea machines, yet even with them he fights for adequate oxygen.

No child should have to experience a scary illness like Diego’s. The surgery that we hope to provide for him will repair his airway and hopefully eliminate his need for a sleep apnea machine.
