Twibell camper van lifeline

Donation protected
We are fundraising for Tim, Amy, Zeth and Rory Twibell.

In the early hours of Saturday 1st April Tim & Amy's van, which was painstakingly hand-converted by engineer Tim over the course of 5 years to cater for the needs of Rory, their disabled and vibrant 6-year-old, was stolen.

This was not just any white van, and the Twibells are not just any family.

In September 2017, 11 month old Rory was rushed to hospital having suffered a serious bleed on the brain. It was touch and go, and the outcome was impossible to predict. Rory made it, but damage was done, and Tim & Amy were faced with the reality of adapting to an unexpected set of circumstances.

A huge part of this was the challenge of ensuring they could still get away as a family, to ensure Zeth and Rory had great experiences, holidays and memories, despite restrictions. As a result Tim, an Engineer, set out on a personal project to convert a good old white van into a family camper, to open access to trips where the kids could still access campsites, the beach and the water despite Rory's mobility challenges.

Tim spent over 5 years on the project, gradually enhancing a humble Sprinter van with, amongst other things, an extendable 2 metre living accommodation compartment, solar panels, and space for a wheelchair as well as some surfing kit. It was their access to an escape and it was a symbol of hope. And on a Friday night, it was stolen from in front of their house. Thanks to some incredible efforts from the police and local community friends, the van was located, but it has been basically destroyed, all of Tim's engineering conversion work ripped out and discarded and completely useless now.

Rory and Zeth know that mum and dad are sad, as do a huge number of our local community.

This page is set up to provide people with the chance to contribute in any small way to a set of parents who demonstrate an incredible positivity and energy, that is clearly inherited by a wonderful pair of brothers who entertain and inspire everyone they meet, who have had a really rubbish thing happen to them.

Thank you x
