Twin Ports Spay Neuter Clinic Relocation
Donation protected
Twin Ports Spay/Neuter is the first brick-and-mortar spay/neuter clinic in Minnesota to offer high-quality, low-cost spay/neuter services to homeless shelter animals and household pets. Our practice aims to dramatically reduce the number of animals that become homeless, enter shelters, and may be euthanized.
The building our business is currently located in was sold in July 2021. Our new building manager notified us at the end of October that they have decided to lease our space to another business. We are attempting to complete all our scheduled appointments before our requested vacancy date of January 1st, 2023. We are searching for a new location but have not found anything yet as it is challenging to find a place that is the size we require and can afford. The community has a misconception that we are operated by the city/government or that we have benefactors/grants that will help us through this time. This assumption is entirely inaccurate as we are a small, privately owned clinic by a local veterinarian Dr. Tammy Schilling. Many concerns will arise if we are not able to reopen. Pet overpopulation and homelessness will likely become a more significant issue than it already is. Access to affordable spay and neuter services for those requiring it for public housing is crucial as many people will choose to be homeless before giving up a pet. Several local rescues utilize our services to adopt out their animals already spayed/neutered. We are able to complete 100+ surgeries a week. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many local clinics are still trying to get through their backlogged appointments. Without our services, it will become even more severe due to the sheer volume of surgeries we can perform daily.
Our plans for the funds raised will be used to either retrofit a new location to suit the flow of our clinic or to purchase land/build a new facility.
We would like to thank the community for their support and generosity during this time!
We wish you and your pets the best of health!
