Twirling to Peru
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Maggie Barnett and I am a senior at Byron Nelson High School in Roanoke, TX. I am also a competitive baton twirler and this past summer I was awarded the title of 2019 Teenage Miss Majorette of Texas. In addition to this, I was invited to be a United States Goodwill Baton Twirling Ambassador to Peru for the 69th International Festival of Springtime. I am truly honored to represent the state of Texas and the United States as this has been a dream of mine for many years. I am so grateful to have received this opportunity and cannot wait to share my love for baton twirling with the people of Peru.
Throughout the duration of the two-week festival, I will be performing at numerous philanthropic events, nursing homes, orphanages, a five-mile parade around the city of Trujillo, and much more. The Lions Club of Trujillo is providing transportation between Miami and Trujillo as well as lodging and all meals necessary while in Peru. I am wanting to raise money that will specifically be used for airfare to and from Miami as well as gifts for the children and other people of Peru we will be visiting. I would also use the money to purchase souvenirs representing Texas and the United States to exchange with dignitaries and other international representatives of Central and South America.
After so many years of hard work and dedication, it's truly a monumental moment to share my baton twirling passion with so many others. Financially twirling can be costly, with competitions, costumes, lessons, and travel. I feel so blessed to have had supportive family members, friends, and coaches along the way. At this time, I am hoping to raise money for my airfare and gifts mentioned above to ease some financial costs for my family. Any and all donations would be appreciated. Thank you all for your continued, long-time support.
