Twirl Starz Promote Baton Twirling

Twirl Starz is a new baton twirling competition team from Zachary, Louisiana.  Since the elimination of the Tigerettes twirling team from the LSU Tiger Band in the mid 1980's, the sport of baton twirlinghas seen a slow but steady decline in participation in Louisiana, especially in the Baton Rouge area.    Baton twirling in our area needs a fresh perspective.  With a new band director at LSU, now is the time for a baton twirling revival.   Our team will be ambassadors for the great sport of baton twirling. Twirling helps to promote good sportsmanship, physical fitness, teamwork, and self-confidence.  

Unfortunately, at this time, there are few competitions in Louisiana, so our team is forced to travel to other states to compete. These contests allow our twirlers to join together in friendly competition,  gain experience, and share common interests. while at the same time promoting Louisiana as a viable place for other states to come and participate in competitions. 

However, there is substantial expense associated with traveling to these competitions.  This year, our twirlers have traveled to Tennessee on three different ocassions, Mississippi, and anticipate traveling to Orlando, Florida in Febrary 2015 to participate in Twirl Mania, our very first national twirling competition.  

Last year,  we were crowned Louisiana State Junior Small Beginner Dance Twirl Champions and we would like to continue our tradition by competing on a national scale.  Twirl Mania's competition is held at the Wide World Of Sports in Disney World.  The competition features national and international members of the twirling community.  These twirlers come from across the major twirling organizations including the National Baton Twirling Association (NBTA),  United States Twirling Association(USTA), World Twirling Federation(WTF), Twirling Unlimited (TU),  and Drum Major of America (DMA). This unique opportunity will allow our young twirling students to be exposed to many unique learning opportunities.  

We would like to promote the true sport of baton twirling by traveling and performing at local, state, and national events, including fairs, festivals, and twirling competitions. With the help of your generous donations, we will further our team members' personal and professional growth,  and promote the great sport of twirling in Louisiana and across the United States.
