Twister's Surgery
Donation protected
On September 5, 2015, my life changed forever. Looking to adopt a dog, my family stopped at a local animal shelter. We were getting ready to leave, as none of the dogs there were a match for our family. One of the employees informed us that they had two more dogs coming from their animal medical center, so we decided to wait.
When the shelter found Twister, he was roaming the streets of Akron, Ohio, and couldn't put any weight on his right rear leg. They believe he was hit by a car and made the decision to amputate his leg. As soon as we laid eyes on him, my whole family fell in love with Twister, the cutest three-legged mutt you've ever seen. Based on his stitches, it was obvious his leg had been amputated recently, but that didn't stop him from greeting us with a wagging tail and lots of kisses. After spending five minutes with him, we all knew he was meant to be part of our family.
After taking him home, we were amazed to see how quickly Twister adapted to his three-legged life. People always tell us that he looks like he's smiling.
Even though he's already been through so much, Twister's troubles have continued. Due to the stress on his only rear leg, Twister has developed a condition that causes his knee to dislocate frequently. As of now, Twister can't enjoy walks and will need surgery to get back to his happy, energetic self.
The surgery is very expensive, but the vet said it's the only way for Twister to walk comfortably without a wheelchair. The only thing we want is for Twister to be his happy doggy-self again. Any help is greatly appreciated!
