TWO BROKEN FLIPPERS
Donation protected
Hello everyone. On 05/03/23 I and my coworker were in Bush La. on a second floor rental doing a repair assessment for a damaged window per owner request. On exiting out to an exterior staircase, my coworker made it to the lower treads and as I took the first step down, the whole staircase collapsed from under us. Both of us were on the ground. My partner made it out with bruises. I wasn't so lucky. I landed between the stair treads and my body weight broke my ankle. I lifted my obviously broken leg out of the rubble and realized my right wrist was broken as well. Not being able to get up, I crawled off the downed lumber. I asked my partner to fetch the truck and help me in the passenger side when I noticed blood coming from my right boot indicating a compound fracture. We drove the 25 minutes to St Tammany hospital and got prompt medical attention from the emergency staff. They treated my ankle, set it, and drained it for three days to avoid infection. They also set and splint my wrist. On Monday 05/08/23 they performed first surgery on ankle and I was able to leave the hospital the next day. My wrist surgery was five days later. I'm in the early healing stages and intend on getting well as soon as possible. I've had to cancel all pending jobs that were scheduled. Doctors suggest 4 to 6 months before I'm mobile again. Any contribution made would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your consideration. Be safe.
