Two Brothers Injured in Workplace Accident

Hi There, my name is Georgina and I am fundraising for my two nephews who were injured in a workplace accident on the 27th January 2022.

Nathan (23) and Jason (18) had been at work 3.5 hours and were transporting approximately 1 tonne of concrete slabs across the yard when the trolley broke and both boys left legs were trapped and crushed under the weight of the concrete. Nathan sustained a broken foot and crush injuries, and Jason has sustained serious crush injuries including swelling from hip to knee, multiple tibia breaks, severe ankle joint breaks with soft tissue damage and multiple breaks in his foot.

After the accident happened my sister got in contact with Nathan on video who was lying on the ground at the accident site telling his mum he was injured but ok, she asked “Where’s Jay?” Nathan moved his head and said “over there mum, they are working on him”

Jason had sustained the brunt of the concrete and was in shock. The paramedics were from QAS. Nathan then dragged himself on the ground to his brother, all he wanted to do was tell his little brother to take a breath and calm down so he could settle his heart.

I want to thank their work colleagues for coming to their aid quickly in getting a forklift and removing the concrete slabs off my nephews.

The boys were transported safely to Gold Coast Hospital.

My sister arrived distressed to the hospital, asked for her son Nathan, to which she was told was in the minor surgical ward, she asked and my other son Jason? She was informed he was in resus. At this point her heart broke and she was beside herself. Thankfully Jason’s heart is strong and finally settled to a safe beating rhythm.

Both boys are in stable condition, however there is a long road to recovery. While I am sure their recovery will be paid for. What I am fundraising for is the short term household financial payments that we or insurance companies don’t think about.

These are; The parents and Nathan’s fiancé time away from work, trips to the hospital, food, and household essentials. Power and phone bills. Nathan’s son and his needs. And all those hidden costs that keep adding up and take your time away from what really matters. To be there for your family giving them your support to recover from their injuries.

This financial aid will help my sister, brother in law and Nathan’s fiancé to focus their time on the recovery of the boys and help their family get through what will be a tough road ahead.

I would like to thank you for taking the time to read and remember no amount is too small, if it can help a family focus on what is truly important. I am forever thankful, I am most thankful both boys are still here with us.
