Two Moons Healing Journey
Donation protected
My name is Leah Lalonde, I have had the honor of being the care taker for Two Moons - Niizh Dbiki-Gizis, an Ojibwe Spirit Pony registered with the La La Croix Indian Pony Society.
The Ojibwe ponies are a unique breed of horse in Canada with an incredible legacy. They are said to have roamed the traditional lands of Turtle Island for years before the other horse breeds were introduced by Europeans.
In the early 1900's. thousands of Ojibwe Sprit Horses could be found in Indigenous Communities across Ontario. However, settlers viewed the horse as a nuisance for eating their crops and ruining their fields. Ojibwe Spirit Horses were hunted and forced to the brink of extinction.
A dedicated group of people have worked tirelessly to facilitate carefully managed breeding programs and now there are approx. 300,
Two Moons is a sweet 7 year old mare, but sadly she is facing some health issues. As a result she has been moved to a rehab / recovery centre and is receiving special care, treatment and veterinary services.
This Go Fund Me has been created to provide an opportunity for community members to participate in her healing journey in a meaningful way, and to generally offer financial assistance for significant costs associated with her overall care.
Your support and care are greatly appreciated.
