Super excited to make health and fitness a priority in 2020. And so, to start off the year with a challenge, I have signed up to run the Two Oceans Ultra Marathon this April! After having two babies in two years, I’m determined to get back into peak shape and to push myself to my limit!
I’m also running to raise money and awareness for a cause that I am very passionate about! The @sararafoundation does amazing work with the indigenous communities in Northern Kenya, focusing on developing sustainable community. Early childhood education, women’s health and pediatric care are core to the foundations strategic plan. This year, they hope to expand their Nomadic Montessouri program to open another school in the Sarara valley, which would educate 100 students in total. They are also launching the nomadic health program designed to provide direct care to expectant mothers and young children who are still living ultra remote traditional lives with little access to infrastructure that supports critical human needs. These programs are so visceral to me after having two births that would not have been able to happen if it weren’t for modern medicine and the option for an emergency c section. Now that Roan is almost 2 years old and about to start preschool, I really appreciate the importance of doing my part toward providing all children with the opportunity to access quality education. I have a goal to raise $2,500 through my 35 mile Ultra Run to donate to the @sararafoundation which will help pay for the school materials as well as medical equipment for the healthcare program to use in the field. Please help support this amazing cause and cheer for me on the 11th of April!
