UPPERWESTSKATES 2 YEAR ANNIVERSARY PICNIC

Donation protected
Hey everyone my names Chris vidal and I am a proud Latino small business owner father of 8 year old boy and girl twins Christopher & Harmony  and now an unexpected role model and mentor to so many of these kids new to skateboarding and to those from all levels around me & my community based skateshop UPPER WEST SKATES each & everyday.
.
Which to be completely honest, it’s way more than just a skate shop. UPPER WEST SKATES isn't just a local skateshop, it’s a sanctuary for neighborhood kids, a safe space for anyone who needs one. It’s a creative hub, and a platform a podium in a weird kinda way for tomorrow's leaders. It’s a small business that conducts big business when it comes to mentoring, teaching, safe guarding, and being a part of every kids journey into the art of skateboarding.
.
Our event, scheduled for Saturday, June 1st, 2024, at Andy Kessler Skatepark from 1 pm to 6 pm, is not just a gathering but a celebration of unity and creativity. It’s also the first day of pride month! At UPPER WEST SKATES we believe in come as you are be who you are and let the next person. Enjoy life just as much as you by living your best life and letting anyone else live there’s the best way they know how. We are a judgement free space where the only color we talk about is grip, stains, graphics’s, wheels, trucks and what nots.
.
Your generous contribution will be acknowledged in community announcements, event introductions, and across various social media platforms like YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, personal blogs, Vlogs, flyers, and a final edited recap with a dedicated sponsors section. We understand that every contribution matters, regardless of its form—whether it's products, food, drinks, financial support, or your valuable time. Your donation, no matter the size, will be utilized effectively and with gratitude.
.
We are doing our first ever Best trick contest being hosted by Ian Clark from the
501 c (3)  not for profit organization
NYC SKATE COALITION. Giving skaters a chance to win some cash as well as a cash for tricks part. Meaning you give skaters smaller amounts of cash for landing tricks.

We’re hoping to raise enough money to offer a great cash prize to the participants and to the much loved and highly regarded free for everyone giveaways we do.

25 cases of 8-12 boxes or pouches of sugar free organic fruit drinks for the kids
.
I’ll be renting a U-Haul truck to transport any  and everything needed from the shop ti the park.

Please take note & know from my customer base I am the only independently minority owned brick and mortar skateshop above 34th street in nyc ( that’s where zumiez is located )

I am located on Broadway and 106th street I barely make the rent, ( a month behind but I’m working on it )I have a scaffold blocking the store for over a year. My shop is the only outlet these kids have, some coming from some poor very under-served and impoverished neighborhoods all over NYC, but I’m the only spot for kids from the Bronx and parts of  Manhattan that want a shop to call their own. They come to my shop on the upper west side, they never been to anything like it thwy say. Some in awe some just wanna skate and hang at the shop with other skaters, I’ve had to hook so many of these kids up with free stuff they’ve needed because I know what it’s like I grew up on public assistance, broke growing up in Brooklyn we had one skate shop and that’s how Scotty from cs skates treated us. Like his family. Gave us what we needed with our excess but with his best intentions.
.
Please go and check my google reviews I swear I’m doing my best. And know these kids come and don’t wanna leave the shop. They love how I show them everything I leaned about owning a business to the things I was exposed to through skateboarding. The genuine appreciation and how these kids would benefit the most from this free for all picnic community gathering and your contributions is so heart warming. I hope to do more frequent ones.  I’ve been open two years since May 28th 2022 and this will be my fourth picnic and the first time I’ve needed to ask for help. If I wasn’t backed up in bills and rent I wouldn’t have to ask.

Thank you for considering this request. Sincerely yours,

 Chris Vidal
