Father's Love is Like a Mountain Short Film

Hello, I'm Pauline Angelina. I'm a second-year graduate film student at the University of Central Arkansas. Currently, I'm working on a short film project for my thesis, "Father's Love is Like a Mountain" (父爱如山).

It's a personal story inspired by my relationship with my father. The story is about a Chinese father and daughter relationship, where the daughter feels the father doesn't support her enough in her passion, while in fact, the father has his way of loving her.

I feel father's love is underappreciated in society. I see a lot of people doesn't have a good relationship with their fathers, including myself when I was in my teenage years. After becoming an adult, I feel a lot of the conflict happened because of a lack of communication and sometimes, it's just because we have different love languages. Relationships often become sour and sometimes it stays until the rest of their lives.

I'd like my film to inspire people to appreciate their father more, motivating people to try understanding and connect, or reconnect with their father--because at the end of the day, I believe all fathers in this world will always try to give his best for his children's happiness and they deserve some love from us. This project is important and means a lot to me, as part of it is also inspired by real-life events. I want to encourage people to be kind and appreciative towards their parent (s) while they can, to prevent them from the regret and guilt I felt when I lost my father. Even if there's only one person that chooses to reconnect with his/her/their parents after watching my film, then I consider it as a success for me!

I understand that this is an ambitious project, because we need to cast specific actors (bilingual Chinese-English Asian American), and most likely we will have to cover the travel and accommodation fees. Moreover, because we will shoot in two cities (where we have access to locations for free), there will also be accommodations and travel fees for crews. The initial budget of this film will be $20,000, - including the accommodation, consumption, costumes, as well as crew and talent fees. The production is planned to be finished in 4 days with half production shot in Conway, and half in Memphis during the 1st-2nd week of November 2023.

Therefore, any kind of support will be appreciated even if it's just sharing this fundraiser campaign with the people you know! All contributors will be credited in the film credits, social media shoutouts, and the top contributors will be invited to attend a private screening once the film is finished.

Contributions can be in the form of F&B (for consumption), housing (for crew and cast's accommodation), costumes, or cash donations (preferable).
