Dear Friend,
We need your help! We are a group of six curators working on an exhibition set in Sugar Hill Harlem as part of the New York City based organization No Longer Empty’s Curatorial Lab. No Longer Empty curates art in empty spaces in search of leaving a legacy of conversation in a neighborhood and we, the curators, have spent the last 4 months researching, discussing, vetting and selecting artists to affect a space in Sugar Hill.
Our exhibition titled The Way Out is Through uses video, interactive media, sculpture, installation, and performance to address the shifting landscapes of the urban environment. The exhibition, which opens January 10th, highlights the work of seven artists discussing what it means to find home in our transient city environment. Video artist Peggy Buth’s examination of the destruction of social housing projects in East Berlin, a dance installation by Paloma McGregor/Angela's Pulse and a phone in which to call Harlem and say thank you by Nicko Nogués will be among those presented.
Give a 100% tax-deductible donation of $5, $25, $50 to help us reach our goal of $1500 by January 1, 2015. $5 will get us a box of screws, $25 will cover a can of paint, $50 will keep the website up and running, $100 will support additional public programming, and $250 will pay one artist fee. Please consider making a donation.
