Funeral expenses for Kyle

On Friday night a neighbor within our community, Sheila Meyers, suffered a horrible tragedy when her four year old son, Kyle, accidentally drowned at Sunset Lake. Our members took heroic action to try and save his life prior to the arrival of emergency services and the police, and I am grateful for their efforts. This occurred immediately before movie night was to begin and several of our members and their children played with Kyle in the hour or so before events unfolded. One of our members accompanied Sheila to the hospital and I am grateful for her help as well.

As a community, we are deeply wounded. Several of you have expressed a willingness to help Sheila and her family with funeral expenses, prepared meals, etc. I have reached out to Sheila's family and communicated this and her family is appreciative of our concern. This GoFundMe is Sunset Lake's effort to help.

It is my understanding that Sheila's brother, William Meyers, has been authorized by Sheila to withdraw the money and will be responsible for delivering any and all funds raised to Sheila. In that vein, because our community and neighbors have been so incredibly generous, the money raised has far exceeded the original goal of $5,000.  It is my further understanding that the funds will be used to pay for Kyle's funeral and to help Sheila pay for medical expenses so that she can get the help she needs to get through this tragedy. Additional funds will be used to help pay her rent and living expenses as she is a single mother trying to make ends meet. I have no relationship to Sheila other than as a concerned neighbor and member of her community at Sunset Lake.
