♡Our friend Damian♡
In June of this year our very good friend Damian was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. Damian is only 59yrs old (or young as he would say.Ha) & since then his condition has gone downhill very quickly. He has lost his speach & his mobility is worsening from day to day. He has also been fitted with a PEG for feeding as his swallow is going & he will not be able to eat & on top of all that he suffers from constant tiredness & pain.
Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a progressive neurological condition that attacks the motor neurones, or nerves, in the brain and spinal cord. This means messages gradually stop reaching the muscles, which leads to weakness and wasting. MND can affect how you walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe. There are different types of MND & Damian's type is known as Bulbar MND which is a disease of the upper motor neurones, while progressive muscular atrophy affects only lower motor neurones in the spinal cord. In progressive bulbar palsy, the lowest motor neurones of the brain stem are most affected, causing slurred speech and difficulty chewing and swallowing.
Damian is a man that has worked all his life with his own little business "Handcraft Jewellers" & sadly because of this horrible disease this is all coming to an end & soon Damian will deteriorate even more & become wheelchair bound & leaving his house will become more & more difficult & its because of that we have decided to set up this GoFundMe to try make his life a bit more comfortable when this happens wheather it be for adjustments to his home or taking the stress of money, bill's etc away from himself & his wife.
While the Doctors etc do all they can to ensure people with MND get the treatment they need there is alot more they dont cover when it comes to their home life. Bills will start to creep up, the house will have to be adapted & special devices will need to be bought & living with an incurable disease is hard enough without having money problems to add to it.
There is NO cure for MND, it is a life sentence that rips your loved ones away in the most horrible way imaginable & having to watch our friend deteriorate before our eyes is heartbreaking so we want to do all we can to help him.
This GoFundMe page is been set up for anyone to donate to no matter how big or small. We will also be running a few different nights over the next few weeks to raise money that will include waxing, head shaving, table quizs etc & Damian is also Lead Investigator on our Team "Supernatural Seekers Ireland-Paranormal Investigators" & one of our nights will include a "Paranormal Lockdown" with all proceeds going to Damian's GoFundMe.
